Airing in the UK in July was Guy Martin’s Lost WW2 Bomber, an intriguing and historical documentary uncovering the mysteries surrounding a World War II bomber aircraft.

Hosted by the renowned presenter and motorcycle racer Guy Martin, the program delves into the quest to locate and potentially recover a lost WWII RAF bomber from the from the depths of a Dutch lake, where it’s been submerged for 80 years.

On the 13th of June 1943, Pathfinder Lancaster ED603 was shot down over the Ijsselmeer in the Netherlands. The bodies of four crew members washed ashore, but three airmen were never found – their remains assumed to still be in the wreckage of the plane. Now, the Dutch government are funding attempts to recover ED603 – and find those missing airmen.

Viewers follow Martin and his team as they embark on a mission to trace the bomber’s journey and piece together its story. From exploring wartime archives to conducting field investigations, the documentary sheds light on the bravery of the crew and the technological advances of the era.
